Weapons Mastery: Svalin is a formidable combatant and has received extensive training in unarmed combat and extensive training with swords, staffs, bow and arrow and a wide variety of other weapons. Her fighting ability has surpassed her mother's, but does not yet match Brunhild’s fighting abilities.
Svalin is also trained in brawling, wrestling and combat techniques.
Horsemanship - From her training with the Valkyries, Svalin is an expert horsewoman.
Death sight Svalin is endowed with the Valkyries’ power to perceive and sense the coming of Death. As such, Svalin could perceive a "deathglow" surrounding a person in serious danger of dying, a dark cloud or graphic visual image over people who were in mortal peril.
Svalin has learned how to read, knows Asgardian law and knows how to run a household.
Powers:
(Standard Asgardian ability set):
Super Strength: Svalin is slightly stronger than most Asgardian women. She can press/lift up to around 35 tons.
Superhuman Stamina: Like all Asgardians, Svalin’s muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than those of humans allowing her to operate at peak levels for longer periods of time.
Superhuman Durability: The tissues of Svalin's body are also considerably harder and more resistant to injury than those of a human. She is immune to all known diseases, and resistant to most poisons.
Superhuman Longevity: Svalin, like all other Asgardians, isn't immortal in the same sense some other god pantheons. Svalin ages at a pace far slower than a human being. The consumption of the Golden Apples of the goddess Idun is essential to an Asgardian maintaining their physical vigor, though Svalin has not yet had to ingest any of the apples so far due to her young age.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite her high resistance to injury, it is possible to injure Svalin. If injured, her body is capable of repairing damaged tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than the body of a human being. Serious injuries such as missing limbs can only be healed by magical means.
Superhumanly Dense Tissue: As with all Asgardians, Svalin's skin, muscle, and bone tissues have 3 times the density of the same tissue in the body of a human being, contributing somewhat to her superhuman strength and weight.
Exceptionaly Strong Will The Aesir are gods, and possess much greater than human will, being resistant to most manner of possession, mind control and similar effects.
Aesir: Svalin can speak English, German and a number of the languages of northern Europe, but is primarily fluent in the language of the Norse gods. When she speaks, all listeners understand what she's saying in an archaic version of their own native language, hence the Norse gods speaking middle English.
Magic Spells: The majority of the Asgardians all have some potential to practice magic, mostly but not limited to changing their appearances, transforming matter and wielding cosmic, elemental and paranormal energies. Svalin has the ability to cast illusions, but nothing more than creating minor illusions that only affects sight, not the other senses. She has also been able to heal minor wounds in others, but this has been subconscious so far.
Horse: Tryggvi
Sword: Vigfrior (Beautiful Battle) is an Asgardian sword crafted by the dwarves who crafted Mjolnir. The sword looks and functions like a regular broadsword, but it also has magical enchantments on it that allow it to change shape to one of four different weapons. It can be a sword, a staff, an axe and a war hammer. Only Svalin and those worthy can use the weapon in this manner. For all others it is a plain sword. Vigfrior also possess a mystical link with Svalin and allows her to command it if it were alive. It will return to her hand, going through any barrier to do so.
Shield: made of uru, and thus invulnerable, and as the goddess-mother to the sun god, and a dragonslayer, it negates fire/heat from flowing around the shield and such to provide effective immunity.
History:
Svalin is one of seven children born to Thor and his two wives. Svalin and her twin are the only children of Sif and Thor and her other four siblings are the children of Thor and Einmyria. Sif and Einmyria became pregnant around the same time, which led to three children being born in the same hour.
Believing she is her father's heir put her on the path to becoming a shield-maiden of Asgard like both of her mothers. She has spent almost every waking moment learning how to use weapons.
Her training started when she was five and she was trained alongside her siblings until they turned fifteen. They were taught by the various warriors of Asgard including the Warriors Three, Brunhild, Sif and Thor. They were schooled in the use of every weapon available to an Asgardian warrior. These included swords, staffs, bow and arrow, staves, knives, axes and warhammers. Svalin favored the sword and it is the weapon she has the most proficiency in.
When they were not in “school” the three, Svalin, Aridis and Halbjorn, would be off having adventures. There were times they would get in over their heads, but working together they usually got out of whatever situation they were in. There were times when outside adult help had been required and on more than one occasion they had spent time facing the consequences of their actions in punishments.

Her mother Einmyria tried to teach her minor magic, but the most Svalin has been able to do is create minor illusions. She can heal minor wounds in other people, but this has been a subconscious effort and has proven inconsistent so far.
The next step in her shield-maiden training consisted of training with the Valkyries. Halbjorn continued to study warcraft and Aridis studied magic. Svalin has spent the last ten years training with the elite group of female warriors.
Odin sent the four eldest children of Thor to Migard to learn about humanity and what it means to be a hero. Since arriving on Migard, Svalin has kept a watchful eye on her siblings. She fought the Kraken during the Defenders' trip to Disneyland along with her brother Halbjorn. They are still banned from Disneyland to this day.
When the undead soldiers and demons attacked the compound during Zoey's birthday party, Svalin and Halbjorn fought the soldiers while the rest of the Defenders fought the demons. Halbjorn defeated the leader of the soldiers causing the rest to disappear. Svalin and Halbjorn were both severely wounded, but Asleif healed them.
A new Conquest and a new Juggernaut were fighting in the the streets of LA. The Defenders were called out to stop them. They defeated Conquest and Juggernaut, but the agents of Dormammu stole the Ruby of Cyttorak and the Kestrel Key before the Defenders could get them. The Defenders had some downtime after the battle and Svalin got to know her roommate Marlow better.
Set's minions and the Deviants enacted their plans to bring Set back into the world. The selected brides were abducted from various teams and the heroes gathered to go rescue them. Gaea appeared at the Defender's compound and informed them that Demogorge would be needed. Svalin and Ohu volunteered to journey to Atum's realm to convince him to help while the others ventured to Lemuria. Svalin and Ohu sacrificed themselves to help Atum transform into Demogorge.
The gathered heroes and Demogorge defeated Set and his minions. The brides were rescued and the heroes went home. Demogorge transformed back into Atum and the godlings were expelled from him, though in very weakened forms. Gaea brought them back to Earth and restored their vitality and put them to sleep for a few days.
Aridis was kidnapped by Manawydan and Svalin along with the other Defenders went to rescue her before the two pantheons went to war.
Svalin was abducted by the Empress and forced to fight in her gladiatorial fights. She defeated the other kidnapped girls, but fell to her brother when the guys showed up to rescue the girls.
Alfrun gathered the forces of darkness and summoned Demogorge and lay siege to the city of Asgard. Odin summoned the Asgardians home and before the battle he gave them their prophecies about Ragnarok.
"And in the end times, when Odin All-Father see'st no more,
Consumed by the all-devouring hunger of Fenris,
And Mighty Thor hast departed to battle Jormungandr to the last,
The Eldest scion of Asgard remaining to it shalt quit the throne,
And in Asgard's blackest moment, she shalt fly to her brother's side
And there she shalt meet her first end, born under by the blackest tide
Defending her brother's back.
And then she shalt be the final chosen rider,
And Brunnhilde shalt surrender her leadership and post,
And Svalin shalt lead the final charge of the Valkyrie, choosers of the slain.
And whilst they will be slain to the last, ten spears shalt pierce the Fenris' heart.
Svalin's and Brunnhilde's shalt strike most true, and pierce the Wolf's heart through.
Odin shalt be avenged, and the last two of the Valkyrie shalt fight to the last,
With Brunnhilde as Svalin's shield-maiden, standing before the doors to the throne room."Svalin commanded the forces of Asgard from the battlements until she leaped off to slay a Frost Giant. Svalin found herself on the ground and saw her brother being overwhelmed by demons. She rushed to his aid and in doing so abandoned her duties to Asgard. The battle was won, but Svalin received admonishments from Brunhilde and her father for abandoning her duties. Thor suggested time away from her siblings when they returned to Migard. and Svalin agreed. As part of her duties, Svalin had to speak to the families of the dead and lead the ceremonies to honor the dead.
Svalin joined the Avengers and her time in New York would be limited. Kang showed up and scanned the Tallus. The Avengers fought Kang, but he disappeared and the Time Broker showed up and informed them that stopping Kang was important. Svalin was among those who would volunteer to go after Kang through time.
The six companions set out on their journey and their first stop would be in the Hyborean Age. They teamed up with Red Sonja and Conan to stop Varnae and Thulsa Doom and their horde of vampires.
Their next stop would be in the 700-800s during the Viking Age. Svalin and the group encountered a settlement who had lost their chieftain and under the threat of attack by a fleet of Kang's ships and robots. Svalin and the Avengers lead the Norsemen in an attack on the ships and were successful in sinking the ships and defeating the Kangbots.
The next time period they would travel to was the Arthurian Age. There they met a wounded King Arthur and his knights. Mordred had taken over Camelot and the Avengers had to help Arthur's forces retake it. Vernique and Iason went to find the Black Knight (Sir Percy) to lead Arthur's forces. Svalin and Iason took out the energy cannons while Vernique and the others had to sneak into the castle to open the gates. A dragon appeared in the skies and Svalin went to battle it alone. She eventually slayed the dragon by letting it swallow her and then cut her way out from its stomach. Arthur and the Avengers prevailed and then were offered knighthoods by Arthur. Svalin politely declined.
Their next stop brought them to the Wild West where they had to help the Earp brothers defeat the Cowboys at the OK corral. The Cowboys were armed with Kang tech, but the heroes prevailed.
The next part brought them into a Steam Punk era. The Red Skull and the Skeleton Crew, armed with Kang tech, were looking to attack the Helicarrier. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers enlisted the help of the Avengers to fend off the attack on the Helicarrier. Both sets of Avengers were able to hold off the attack and save the Helicarrier.
The Avengers found themselves in World War II and had to help Captain America and the Allies stop Baron Zemo and Baron Von Strucker. They woke the Sleepers and the Avengers faced them and defeated them. They took some time and celebrated Charlie's birthday.
Their next stop found them in a world similar to their own, but Civil War had splintered the heroes and Norman Osborn had taken control of SHIELD and used his 'Dark Avengers' to enforce his will. The Avengers were found by the heroes of that world and were reunited with the Exiles. A major battle over New York took place. Svalin and a few others went aboard the Helicarrier to take it over. Svalin found Mjolnir, but failed to lift it and deeply affected the Asgardian. The Helicarrier started to crash during the battle and Sarah, Svalin and Iason stopped it from causing much damage. Osborn and the Dark Avengers were defeated and it was time to move on.
The next world they would end up in was a world that was twenty years in the future and for them was a possible future. They met the Avengers of that time period, who were their possible children. Svalin and Vernique met their son Sovler Svalinsson. The 12-Step Avengers would spend Christmas with their future kids and the big battle with Kang would come on New Year's Day. The Avengers, 12-step and the future Avengers, would defeat Kang, but Kang would end up getting away at the end. The Sentry was defeated and Kang's fortress was destroyed. The Avengers celebrated and said good byes as the 12-Step Avengers would go on the next leg of their journey.
The 12-step Avengers would find themselves in another dimension and would arrive in the middle of a battle over a city. They arrived in the middle of a battle between the YJLA and the Injustice Society. Being familiar with Jon's S, they started assisting the YJLA and chased off Luthor and the IJS. They met the YJLA and were taken back to headquarters.
Vernique asked Svalin out to coffee along with Jon. During the outing she broke a heel and excused herself to go back to the YJLA headquarters and let Svalin and Jon continue on. Svalin and Jon talked over hot chocolate and went to dinner together. They ended up spending the night together and both of them got A Talk from Vernique the next morning about using protection. The Avengers would spend a week with the YJLA until they were ready to face Kang in his fortress at the end of time. Svalin spent what time she could with Jon, but she also got to meet Hope Free and have a sparring match with the New God. The two women beat each other up and became friends.
Jon took Svalin to meet Lois and the three of them had dinner. Svalin provided Lois with recordings of the fight to see if there were anything they missed. Svalin also told Lois about Solver and offered her pictures of him.
The YJLA went with them and the two teams battled Kang. One team battled the doombots and went inside to deal with Kang, Svalin, Jon, Rose, Hope and Dex stayed outside and battled Doomsday. Svalin's sword was broken in battle and she was thrown against the wall of Kang's fortress. Her arm and ribs broke and she suffered a concussion. Disorientated and hurt, she struggled to get back to the battle. She tripped and fell, but she landed close to Mjolnir. Svalin reached for her father's hammer and it came free of it's resting place. She had proven herself worthy and charged back into the battle wielding Mjolnir. The heroes managed to wear down Doomsday a bit until Svalin put every bit of energy and will into Mjolnir and unleashed a God Blast at Doomsday. The being was destroyed and sent hurling into the void around Kang's fortress.
The other Avengers and the YJLA defeated Kang and goodbyes were said. Svalin said goodbye to Jon and gave him her pendant of Mjolnir and he gave her his shirt.
The Avengers returned home, but Svalin did not go with them. She returned to Asgard with her father to spend some time healing and getting over Jon. Now that she had proven herself a true warrior and princess of Asgard, Thor gave her the choice of staying in Asgard or returning to Migard and also presented her with
Vigfrior. Svalin chose to return to Migard and returned to the Defenders. The reunion with her siblings was joyful and Svalin was glad to be home.
Svalin talked of her adventures with her brother and her twin. She told them of Jon and of the possibility of a child and Halbjorn presented her with her own Bat'eth. She would go to Las Vegas with the Defenders after they had discovered it was the source of all of the cults popping up around the country. Svalin walked into a Star Trek area were they were holding Bat'leth competitions. Unable to refuse a fight, Svalin dressed up as Klingon woman and took part in the fights. She earned herself a fanboy that day and the Defenders eventually found their ways out of the traps set for them.
A few weeks later Vernique paid the Defenders a visit and was reunited with Svalin and she also spent some time with Halbjorn. When Svalin said that she was sleeping more and was tired more than normal, Vernique took her out to buy a few pregnancy test. The test proved positive and Svalin would be expecting a child in September. She would eventually propose to Vernique and the two of them would talk to Svalin's mothers and seek permission to marry.
The Thunderbolts held another Rate The Hunk and turned it into a bridal/baby shower for Vernique and Svalin. Peace would not last long and the Asgardians and Vernique would be called back to Asgard when Loki got a hold of the Destroyer armor and with Hela's forces attacked the city. Svalin would command the Asgardian forces and kept her post despite wanting to go help her brother while he was attacking trolls.
After the battle and victory celebration, Svalin and Vernique were married and Svalin was recognized as a full goddess of Asgard. She was now the Goddess of Hope and Odin would give her a brief warning that her child could be the savior of Asgard and Earth or be the doom of both.
Vernique would take Svalin to see Dr. Demasi and the two women would get to see their son on an ultrasound.
Personality:
Svalin is a reserved person and does not speak unless she has something to say. She is stubborn and determined, but will listen to reason. She is quick to anger and quicker to action. She lives for battle and protecting her siblings and Asgard.
